6 Reasons to Read A Book Every Month

“The more you read, the more things you know. The more you learn, the more places you will go.”

Nothing can change your life faster than making a commitment to read.

Reading can be a lot like working out; you get to it when you get to it, but that is not enough to reach new levels of success. You have to be all in for reading and here are some reasons why.

6 Reasons to Read A Book Every Month

A book a month is a pretty good place to start. You may have noticed people like Tai Lopez who read a book a day, but that’s pretty damn aggressive, and it takes a while before you can read that quickly, as well as store information that quickly.

Here are 6 reasons to start reading a book every month:

1. Mental Fitness

Working out is important for your body because even if you are a success, what is the point if you die soon after because you are sick? That is not real wealth.

Reading helps to grow and stretch your mind. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet both believe that the best superpower to have would be to speed read. They know something that many don’t and it is that reading often keeps your mind fresh and fit.

Physical fitness requires you to be committed to your workout and your diet and pushing yourself to new levels. Mental fitness is the same thing. You need to be commit to buying new books and taking time each day to read those books.

The discipline of doing this is well worth it.

2. Mentorship

How great would it be to have the top people in your field all mentoring you and teaching you every day? Most people complain that it is hard to get successful people to mentor you, but this is not true.

Books are the key to being mentored by both the dead and alive. You can learn from history and other people’s mistakes to make sure that you are not repeating what many have done before you. View books as mentors and every month you will have a new one.

Mentors show you the way and give you all of the keys to success that you are looking for in books. Successful people don’t write books for the money, most of the times they do it because books live on even after death.

3. Idea Clashing

You can’t learn everything from one person, but you can learn one thing from every person. Creativity grows when we combine more ideas together. We take our life experiences, the lessons we have learned from others, and we bring them all together.

The better the ideas that you can gather the better, the finished result, will be.

Books are a great way to keep new ideas growing in your head. Every time you open up a book and read you introduce new ideas to your head that can clash with ideas that are already there and create something new.

Nothing gives me more ideas for FIXT APP then reading new books and letting the ideas mix around in my thoughts and notebooks. I learn from other founders successes and mistakes and combine the knowledge from ten different books just for one idea.

4. Time to Think

The hardest thing for most people to do in our society is stopping everything just to think.

The idea of having no phone or internet and having just thoughts is freaky for many people. The reason for this is because there need to be some good things brewing in our heads for this to work.

I noticed in my life that when I was NOT staying committed to my reading, I would not have as good of ideas and taking the time to think would not be as fun. What did I have to think on?

The more you read, the more interesting you make your thought, and this makes the prospects of sitting alone and thinking much more exciting.

5. Entertainment

The best way to achieve this is to make reading your new form of entertainment. Instead of wasting your time binging on Netflix, or watching TV, read a book.

At first, it will seem like this is just more work and your not even getting a chance to relax but after a while, you will notice how it will become your entertainment.

When I read autobiographies, I feel like I am watching a movie now because I don’t just see the because as a learning tool. That is what school teaches us about books. Books provide us with more valuable entertainment.

6. Improved Writing

If you want to improve your writing you need to read more. Reading will grow and increase your vocabulary, while also giving you many different authors that mentor you in their ways and style of writing.

Writing is a trait that we all need to put to use at some point. You may need to write a cover letter or a proposal at work. The ability to write clearly, powerfully and efficiently is a highly underrated trait.

Reading is not something I consider to be optional; it is something I believe is mandatory.

Every time I get away from this I regret doing so. Humans were not meant to stay stagnant, and one of the best ways to make sure that you never do is to read on a daily basis.
